Game of Fades Play now
BRICK and SWITCH square up in a rain-soaked alley under magenta and cyan neon: the game's title art

Playable nowA neon-noir fighting game in your browser

Game ofFades

Step in the alley and catch one. Fourteen fighters, fourteen stages, an arcade ladder with a boss at the top and something worse underneath. Keyboard or controller. Free, no install, no account.

Runs in a desktop browser with a keyboard or a gamepad. On a phone you can look around, but you cannot fight yet.

Captured from the current build

This is the game.
Not a mock-up.

Two CPU fighters recorded straight out of the browser build you can play right now. Nothing staged, nothing sped up, nothing added.

The clip could not play here. The screenshots below are from the same build.

Gameplay recorded from the browser build in September 2026: BRICK against SATAN in THE FURNACE, then SWITCH against CLIPPER in the CHOP SHOP, both sides on the HARD CPU. Silent here; in the game the announcer and the music are on.

The roster

Fourteen fighters.
One block.

Every one of them wears a fade and has a reason to be in the alley. Ten are yours from the first fight. The other four are earned.

The last rung

The block has a basement.

Clear the ladder and the road does not end. It goes down. SATAN waits under the block in THE FURNACE, the last fight of every arcade run, hidden until you have put him down once. He takes four fifths of every hit, drinks health and meter off a command grab, and his super opens the floor under your feet. Jump it or eat it.

Campaign art built from his in-game design and his real stage. Not a screenshot.

Meet the rest of the block

How it plays

Old-school rules.
Sharp fades.

A 2.5D fighter: the fight happens on a line, the fighters are real 3D models lit by the stage they stand in. Two buttons for punches, a special, a super, a throw. Everything else is timing.

  1. Block high, block low, or get thrown

Hold away from your opponent to block. Down and away blocks low. Air attacks come in overhead, crouching heavies sweep the legs, and light plus heavy is a throw that opens any guard. A throw can be teched, but only inside eight frames.

  2. Build the bar, spend the bar

Hits, blocks and time fill the meter. Every fighter carries a special, most carry a second one on down plus special, and each has a taunt in place of a gun. Specials cost meter. The SUPER needs all of it.

  3. Supers are cinematics

The world freezes, the cut-in slides in, the name goes up, then it happens. Some are a flurry or a charge. Some are a gold elevator dropped on your head, three black SUVs, a clown car, a door slammed shut on your specials, or the floor opening.

  4. Every fighter fights differently

BRICK walks through hits. SWITCH throws steel from range. PASTOR heals himself and passes the plate. INFLUENCER hits harder with every hit she lands. FETTY cannot be knocked out at all, so the clock is your only friend. The move list in the pause menu prints the real frame data.

Six ways in

  • Arcade Five fights up the block, the boss in the back room, then downstairs. Lose and the continue screen counts down from ten. Every fighter has an ending.
  • Versus CPU One match, your pick of fighter and stage, four difficulty levels up to NO MERCY.
  • Versus 2P Two people on one keyboard, or two gamepads. Same room, same screen.
  • Training No clock, nobody dies. A dummy that stands, crouches, jumps, blocks or fights back, with hitboxes and frame data on screen.
  • Survival One life bar against the whole block, a little health back after every win, the CPU meaner every third fight.
  • Options Volume, music, difficulty, rounds, clock, screen shake and which player a single pad drives. Saved in your browser.

The block

Fourteen places to
catch one.

Photoreal stages with living light: rain, steam, neon that stutters, a train that never comes. Every fighter has a home, and every stage is on the pick screen from the start.

Build status

What you get today

An early build, growing in waves. Everything on this page is in the game right now.

Playable now

  • The whole game in a browser tab: fourteen fighters, fourteen stages, six modes.
  • Free. No account, no install, no download, nothing to buy.
  • Unlocks, records and options are saved in your browser on this site.

What you need

  • A desktop or laptop browser with WebGL. Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari all work.
  • A keyboard, or a gamepad for either player.
  • A little patience on the first fight: the fighters are real 3D models, about 4 MB each, and the game fetches them in the background while you pick.

Not in this build

  • No online play. Versus 2P is two people in one room.
  • No touch controls. The game needs keys or a pad.
  • No store page, no console version, no app. The game is the link.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Open the link and press a key. There is no account, no download and nothing to buy.

Does it save?

Yes, in your browser. Unlocked fighters, best streaks, fewest continues and your options stay on this site as long as you keep the browser data.

Can I play on my phone?

Not yet. This page works on a phone, but the game needs a keyboard or a gamepad, so it asks you to open the link on a computer.

Can two people play?

Yes, on one keyboard or with two gamepads, in VERSUS 2P. There is no online play.

How do I unlock the hidden fighters?

FADE opens when you clear Arcade. Your first clear also opens MOGUL and your second opens SENATOR. SATAN opens when you beat him at the bottom of the ladder. A win with the gun counts for nothing.

Is it finished?

No. It is an early build that grows in waves, and it is playable end to end today. Everything on this page is in the game now.
